Blocked soil stack? I'm there in 30-40 minutes
The soil stack is the pipe that runs down the whole building and takes the drains from every floor: when it blocks, water comes back up on the lower floors. Call me at any hour: I unblock stacks for apartment buildings, offices and businesses.
Why it happens
Wipes, sanitary products, nappies
Flushed on any floor, they go down the stack and get stuck in the bends.
Kitchen grease
It builds up on the walls, floor after floor, and narrows the pipe.
Limescale and build-up
In older buildings the stack narrows over the years, until it takes very little to close it.
Damaged pipes
A crack or a deformed section catches dirt always in the same spot.
How I fix it
I unblock the stack and check that the drains work again on every floor.
With a camera inspection I look inside the stack: I see where the blockage formed and whether the pipe is cracked. If it is, I repair it from the inside with relining, without opening walls in the flats.
